My First Blog Post

Well, I have a blog now, as you can see. I don't really know why, seeing that no ones knows about it. I probably won't even tell anyone for a while. Oh well. It does feel kind of funny just writing to nobody. But I guess I do that in my journal every night, so it's lots the same. Anyways, volleyball basically takes up my life right now. Practices are three hours long. That's really long for those of you who don't play sports. With that much time going into volleyball, it seems like we'd get better, but we hardly do. It's slightly frustrating. I'm also a junior in high school, and I have four weighted classes to keep up in. It's tough. Yesterday was a pretty exciting day though. I gave a Book of Mormon to one of my teachers. On her request too. I don't want to sound like a braggart, but at the beginning of the year, I kind of felt like she didn't understand Mormons very well and she'd make side comments about this or that religious aspect, giving us side glances wondering if it would bother us. I decided to just be an example of the believers (1 Timothy 4:12), and just show her that I really am happier because of the gospel in my life. So we've gradually become pretty good friends. Every now and then she'll give us a writing assignment (she's my english teacher) that give me the opportunity to write something about my beliefs. For example, we wrote about persecution of any group of our choice. I wrote about the persecution of the early Latter Day Saints. In the last essay I wrote, she made a little comment asking how the Book of Mormon got its name. So I went up after class and explained to her that Mormon was the one who compiled all the records, basically becoming the author of the Book of Mormon. During our conversation, I found out she hadn't read the Book of Mormon at all. She then asked if I could get her one to read. So I was pretty excited and brought one for her yesterday. We'll see if she shows any interest further than that. I feel like she has become more interested because I didn't try to force my views on her, I just would present them in my essays, or during discussions in class (we've talked about a lot of things, like abortion and stem cell research etc.), and leave it at that. So, I'm excited. It's especially cool since I don't normally pray for missionary experiences, although I know I should, but at the beginning of this week, I actually did and then a great one comes along. I've never gotten this far in sharing the gospel besides with the missionaries and when I gave a Book of Mormon to my crush in 6th grade. So, life is good.
